Ready to learn how to design your own shawl? Jen Lucas, author of the best-selling book, Sock-Yarn Shawls, will go through all the steps of designing your own sock-yarn shawl from start to finish.

Students Will Learn: to design a top-down triangle shawl. Students will learn everything you need to know to create your design from the garter tab cast-on, inserting in the desired lace patterns you want to use, all the way to the bind off.

Homework: None

Class Prerequisites(Students should know): knit, purl, increasing, decreasing. Must be able to read and follow a pattern and be comfortable with knitting from a chart.


Students Should Bring: 100 yards ( 375+ yards, if you want to continue knitting an entire shawl at home after class) of a smooth, solid, light-colored fingering weight/sock yarn; different sized knitting needles for swatching (Needle sizes US 3, US 4, and US 5 are best; circular needles 24” or longer recommended); pencil with eraser, pens and/or highlighters of different colors; tapestry needle, stitch markers, notebook or something to use for note-taking.
