Using a microwave and simple dyes a quick and easy technique to dye skeins will be taught. There will be a discussion of the different types of dyes.

Students Will Learn: to dye skeins using a microwave and simple dyes. several other techniques will be discussed and demonstrated. Students will become familiar with different brands of dyes and how to use them.

Class Prerequisites(Students should know): no experience needed

Materials Fee: $20.00
   *Material fees are separate from class fees and paid to the instructor the day of the class.

Materials Fee Includes: all dyes and skeins used in the class

Students Should Bring: rubber gloves, an apron, zip lock quart size bags to take the skeins home in

Handspinning

The basic techniques for using a drumcarder will be reviewed. Blending fibers and colors will be explored. There will be many dyed colors and a variety of fibers available for experimentation. Art batts will be discussed and the several methods to create will be taught.

Students Will Learn: Students will know how to use a drumcarder, will know how to blend fibers and will experiment with a variety of fibers.

Homework: none

Class Prerequisites(Students should know): no experience required

   *Material fees are separate from class fees and paid to the instructor the day of the class.

Materials Fee Includes: all fiber used in the class.....wool, both natural colored and dyed, mohair, alpaca, many exotics

Students Should Bring: drumcarder in good working order, plastic bags to carry the carded batts home, enthusiasm
