Class ID: 205 - Bead Weaving on a Loom - Friday All Day - Beginner
Learn an easy and exciting way to weave beads into beautiful square or rectangular shapes; which can then be made into a variety of items such as bracelets, amulet bags, tubes for making cords, pins, and hair accessories. This great method of beading has been passed down to us from our Native American ancestors, although the designs and shapes in the beadwork need not be typical of that culture. Each student will receive their own beading loom to keep and use.
Class Prerequisites: students must be able to see well. Students may use a magnifier.
Students will Learn: how to inter-weave threads on a loom to keep small seed beads in place in a particular design. The result will be a rectangular shape which can then be made into a piece of jewelry or a small accessory. Students will also learn how to make the finished bead weaving into a pin and/or an amulet bag. Students will leave with their own bead-woven pin or amulet bag.
Students should Bring: scissors, pencil with good eraser. Extra colored pencils and different colors of seed beads may be brought by students. Students may elect to bring a pair of magnifying glasses, regular and colored pencils for designing, and extra sz. 11 seed beads.
Class Fee: $0.00 Materials Fee: $0.00 Teacher will Supply: bead looms, graph paper, colored pencils, beading thread and needles, basic colors of seed beads. The instructor will provide other supplies needed to make 1 bracelet or amulet bag shape, as well as basic color seed beads in sz. 11.
